Bhoovigyan Vikas Foundation:
The Bhoovigyan Vikas Foundation (BVF) is a highly committed and motivated consortium of Earth Science and Social Science Professionals, working towards the common goal of 'saving our planet, through various Activities designed to achieve 'sustainable development and sustainable life styles', conforming to the post-J (genda 21 scenario. It was registered as a Professional Association under the Societies Registration Act 1860, in answer to a compelling call for an umbrella organisation by various scientific associations and professionals, concerned about our "Common Future". Towards this end, it works in association with government and non-government agencies, as well as people's organizations at all levels - local, regional, national and international - and also acts as an independent clearing house for the exchange of ideas and activities, providing a constant flow of information, advice and encouragement. Thus, it is a multi-level institution fostering partnerships, linkages and bridges between professional associations, the Government and the society. It seeks to fill up a critical institutional gap, as the one and only one of its kind in the country with holistic vision. It is growing fast as an Earth care policies-oriented research, development and action focussed organisation.

The Foundation was formally launched at New Delhi on 21st April 2001, with celebrations marking the First Earth Day of the Millennium, in which more than 5000 school children in New Delhi took pledge as 'Earth Trustees'. It is also part of the World Earthday Network, headquartered at Seattle, U.S.A. During the 4 years since its inception, it has established its credentials, for commitment to Earthcare movement in India. Within a short span of time, it has established its visibility at the national and international levels. The Foundation has, on its rolls, highly qualified experts as distinguished Fellows (80 elected Fellows).
